Q & A:
Question:  I want to make boxed card sets to give as gifts this year, but I don't know what measurements to use.

Answer: For any box you are making always make the lid 1/8" bigger than the bottom and your lid will be perfect.

How to make a Card Box

  1. Cut two pieces of cards 8.5 x 10" (one for the lid and one for the bottom).
  2. For the bottom of the box, you score in 2" on all sides.
  3. For the lid of the box, you score in 1/8" less than 2" on all sides .  This is a very minor difference, but the perfect amount so the lid is neither too tight or too loose.

TIPS:

  • Put a card front on the top of the box for decoration.
  • Use sticky strip to attach the box together for durability.
  • Add a punch in the opposite sides for finger grips.

Envelope Punch Board

Don't you just love tools that are versatile. The new Envelope Punch Board (133774) is just such a tool. If you haven't purchased this tool, I highly recommend it for a variety of reasons. Yes, it makes envelopes (quickly and easily) in just about any size, but you can also make so many other creations! Envelope liners, file folder cards, boxes, treat wrappers....and the list goes on. Here is a holiday card and coordinating envelope I made recently using the Envelope Punch Board
